MONITORED SYSTEMS

At Panther we are able to offer our residential customers comprehensive monitored systems which provide affordable peace of mind and security for your family. Whilst audible alarms may scare off criminals, they cannot ensure a response from the police.

Police, insurers and security specialists agree that the greatest improvement you can make to your home security is to link your security system to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) that can inform the local police if an intrusion takes place. The knowledge that the police can be on the scene within minutes is clearly reassuring. Fast response is crucial because:

	Intruders have less time to cause loss or damage
	Help can arrive quickly if a personal attack button is activated
	By nominating friends, family or colleagues to act as keyholders, we know who is available to make sure that your property is protected

Qualifying for police response

Following the latest guidelines issued by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO), many Police forces will not attend alarms from non-monitored systems unless there's also first hand evidence of a crime, whether from owner or a member of the public phoning in.

The good news is that the police will attend an alarm signal routed via an Alarm Receiving Centre from a monitored alarm that qualifies for police response. (See the ACPO website for more details.)

More than just a burglar alarm

With a monitored alarm, you're connected 24 hours a day to a fully manned Alarm Receiving Centre via your phone line. What's more, you're not just protected from burglars. We can help you obtain emergency support from the police, fire brigade or your keyholders.

Personal security

You can also install a personal attack device (panic button) enabling you to summon help if you are attacked at home. In addition, if you were forced to disarm your system, you have a duress facility enabling you to secretly alert the Alarm Receiving Centre.

Protection against fire

You can also add a fire detector to your system, which can help protect your family and home against the threat of fire, 24 hours a day. All too often, a fire in the home can have tragic consequences. Many people have installed battery-operated smoke detectors - very useful if maintained and you are in the property at the time they are activated. However, a recent survey by one of the regional fire brigades found that nearly 4 out of 5 such devices were not being maintained. With a monitored system, your fire detector is active 24 hours a day, even if your intruder alarm system is not set.

Panther can also install a separate carbon monoxide detector for additional security.

Smart Water provides valuable property with an unprecedented degree of identification, so powerful in fact it has been likened to 'DNA' profiling. It is a clear, water based solution which is simply painted on. Each brushstroke contains millions of microscopic particles encoded with the owners details. When dry SmartWater Instant is virtually undetectable under normal lighting.

To detect if an item of property has been marked, the Police use an Ultra-Violet light to locate the Instant and conduct a simple on-site test to locate the unique SmartWater Identification Number (SIN).
