Between 1990 and 1999 “Panther Security” was a trading name of Don Henshall - a former Detective Sergeant with the Police Force. His vision was to build the leading independent security company in East Anglia, providing the highest quality, most cost-effective security systems for residential and commercial premises backed with expert customer service and maintenance.
With only one member of staff, this family business set out with the immediate goals of gaining prestigious NACOSS accreditation and building their client base.
Ambition, hard work and determination paid off with the NACOSS accreditation achieved within three short years. ISO 9002 certification followed in only 18 months. In 1995, Panther moved into commercial premises at Lexden House, Colchester, to cope with the success and rapid expansion.
1996 saw further expansion with the purchase of Safe and Sound Security in Chelmsford (another NACOSS accredited security company), thereby giving Panther a presence in mid-Essex. Indeed, Panther is continually on the look-out for appropriate security companies or contracts to purchase.
In 1999 Mr Henshall established Panther Security Systems Ltd for which he is a director.
After a continued period of growth that saw client numbers spiral and staff numbers increase to 22, Panther bought the freehold to their larger, prestigious premises at the Peartree Business Centre, Stanway in 1999.
By this stage, Panther was the largest independent and most successful independent security company in the Colchester area, an achievement that was reinforced when Panther purchased Crime Cure. The purchase of this NACOSS-approved alarm installation company in Ipswich further strengthening Panther's presence in East Anglia.
People - Our staff may all be experienced professionals, but I am a strong believer in personal development, so we still provide comprehensive ongoing training. Investors In People status was gained in 2002. A major part of our success is due to having excellent teamwork (and of course strong leadership!). Furthermore, we are constantly scouring the marketplace to find the best people to add to our teams.
Products - We have formed valuable relationships with the leading equipment suppliers in the business that enables us to provide our customers with the most cutting-edge security systems at the best prices.
Service - I am confident that our customer service is among the best in the UK. This stems from the fact that all our people are vastly experienced in their fields and the majority have engineering backgrounds enabling them to discuss security systems knowledgeably.
Sales/Marketing - Our order book may be full, but we still continue with our successful sales and marketing campaign which is one of the most enviable in the industry.
Reputation - This is the element I have spent the most time and effort in developing. Our superb reputation is something that money can't buy and competitors can't copy. I've heard people speak with pride about having a security system from Panther. One family even flew us to Newcastle and the Isle of Wight to fit systems. That kind of loyalty is what has made the last 21 years worth it!"
